A Special Week

It’s great to be writing this at the start of Carer’s week here in the UK. This is a time for us all to appreciate this special group and their unique contribution. I believe that the world’s carers are increasing in strength and not just in numbers. Our message is gathering momentum and strength. The world’s governments are starting to listen.

However there are many batteles ahead. There has just been published a report by carersUK about work conditions for carers. To quote the report:  “Over half of respondents said it made looking after the person they care for more difficult, and nearly three quarters (74 per cent) said it had a negative impact on their physical or mental health.” It seems that employers still have along way to go to better our lives.

On a personal note I have been writing a new project. I hope to bring this to you in the coming months. It has also been great to get out and speak. I spoke to my local Methodist church last week, and this week I am talking at a diversity conference in Harwich, Essex.

Lastly I must thank Derek kemp. Derek is an ex-carer who has designed my website and mentored me in many ways. I believe that if we have a good intention then the right people will show up in our lives. Derek is certainly a great guy to know.

Please share any of your experiences at work on the site.

take care,
